Shift+F4

Alt+F4 - Creating a new File opens error window 'Cannot perform this command'.
After closing error window the file is created. However the newly created file is not opened automatically for edit.
Thank you

Re: Shift+F4

Shift+F4? Alt+F4 standard close shortcut.
Can you describe in more details: file name, directory was local or network? write access to directory?

Re: Shift+F4

Sorry Sir,
My mistake.
I was meaning Shift+F4 and not Alt+F4

Shift+F4 - Creating a new File opens error window 'Cannot perform this command'.
After closing error window the file is created. However the newly created file is not opened automatically for edit.

Re: Shift+F4

What file name? Directory on local drive or network? Do you have write access to this directory?

Sir,

1. File Name is normal like Example.Txt or Example.Txt or Example.Cmd or alike.
2. Directories are all local C:\ or D:\.
3. No Network Drives where I create new files.
4. I have full access.
5. The same error shows when I click F4 - Editing a File opens error window 'Cannot perform this command'.
After closing error window the file is created. However the newly created file is not opened automatically for edit.
Thank you

Sir,
When I opened Settings\View\Edit , it has just one entry :

All Files  -  Notepad.Exe (F3)  -  Notepad.Exe (F4)

I did nothing here Sir.

Thank you.

Sir,
I have JM Portable installed which has many personalized settings. I first installed JM Portable by overwriting on my existing installation. There was no change. Same errors existed.
Then I installed JM Portable on different location which did not contain Settings.xml. Same errors existed.
Shift+F4 or F4 - Both keys opens error window 'Cannot perform this command'. After closing error window the file is created. However the newly created file is not opened automatically for edit.
Thank you.

Re: Shift+F4

Please download http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25694176/Temp/JustManager.exe and put it in fresh Just Manager portable folder (overwrite).
Perform Shift+F4 functionality once.

Re: Shift+F4

I downloaded http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25694176/Temp/JustManager.exe but I am sorry NO Change. I strongly suspect this is due to some corruption in Settings.Xml.

I am copying below my Log.Txt also Settings.Xml

Thank you Sir.

Re: Shift+F4

Problem occurs only in C:\Download directory?

Notepad.exe exists in C:\Windows directory?

For some reason, system function ShellExecute returns ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND when trying to open Notepad with your file C:\Download\0021.Txt as parameter.

Sir,
I have three partitions.
C:\ is working drive where downloads, applications and file processing is done. Downloaded or final processed files are moved to D:\
D:\ is data storage drive which holds all types of pictures, movies, software, data and finally processed files.
E:\ is small exclusive system drive where there are only three directories, Docs&Sttgs, Program Files and Windows. I never go to E:\ except to access system files.
I have tried to open/edit file by JM on D:\ and E:\ but same results. Until recently JM was all right both Shift+F4 or F4 were working. Only recently stopped working.
I also have Speed Commander, Total Commander and Gyula's Navigator, among a few other file managers. They also use Notepad. I checked it works all right on all drives..

Thank you.

Re: Shift+F4

Downloaded http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25694176/Temp/JustManager.exe and tested, same results.
The last line on Log.Txt says :
"11/12/12 23:11 <<<ERROR>>> CUtils::ExecuteCommand, error: 00000002, op: open, cmd: C:\Windows\Notepad.exe, params: "C:\Dev\FM.Txt", path: C:\Dev
11/12/12 23:11 Command exists: 0, file exists: 0"

My Cmd.Exe and Notepad.Exe location is E:Windows not C:\Windows
Only Log file posted.
Thank you.

11/12/12 23:11 <<<ERROR>>> CUtils::ExecuteCommand, error: 00000002, op: open, cmd: C:\Windows\Notepad.exe, params: "C:\Dev\Newle.txt", path: C:\Dev

Re: Shift+F4

Here's the problem. I have already asked whether the notepad.exe in C:\Windows folder or not.

nleontiev wrote:

You need to change View/Edit settings on Configuration > Settings > View/Edit page.
