If you tick this option it will work fine...
... untilif you are browsing in a folder with too many files that you need a scrollbar. The scrollbar "cuts" a little bit from the width that the columns did not fit any more and a horizontal scrollbar is also neccesary.
I think this option has to be adjusted that it will fit the columns to the width minus xx that is used/reserved for the scrollbar on the side.

step to reproduce another issue with this option
1. check "Adjust columns to panel width"
2. change to detail view navigate somewhere
3. uncheck "Adjust columns to panel width"
4. change to list view
-> file/folder names are truncated & look different than before applying above steps in list view

Can't reproduce.
I can't reproduce it either at the moment, but still I don't understand
why the column width changes in detail view when a file is moved:
from my understanding something is wrong here. or how is this meant to work?

Has been fixed in 0.1 Alpha 51.

"Adjust columns to panel width" option was applied to a panel in List view. Fixed in 1.0.0-alpha.1.

I assume that internal file operations were used and operations toolbar was enabled. When file is moved, operations toolbar appears, panel height is reduced and size change notify is generated, that's why columns have been adjusted. It's necessary to prevent adjustment if only the height has been changed. Will be fixed in the next version.

Also "Adjust columns to panel width" option was applied in List view. Fixed in 1.0.0-alpha.1.
