don't reinvent the wheel!

here my 2 cents on where development should go and what should be avoided.

there are already very good free ftp clients tools like FileZilla or WinSCP.
Don't waste too much (any more) time on implementing FTP functions, you'll likely never ever catch up with these applications.
Anyone asking for sophisticated FTP functions, vas-y and use those programs instead of asking for more in JM because
dev time is needed for important stuff like a more flexible toolbar (ribbon bar?), a revamped quickfilter/-search, revamped
file/folder focus, revamped quickview, etc.

also don't waste time on improving the ultra sluggish search in JM.
rather implement ways to interact and use existing solutions (eg. everything )
see how this is done in other FM here.
this could apply also to other tools like file/folder comparison tools (FreeFileSync) and copy file handlers (nicecopier) .

I think you get my point. In my opinion, after implementing missing rudimentary functions like flat view smile, toggle between one/two panels via shortcut, display average speed when copying, etc.
you could dedicate more time on increasing JM flexibility (scripting smile ) as well as interaction and teamwork with existing solutions.

In my opinion JM should have more enhanced support of FTP. It is not good to use file manager and ftp program such as FileZilla at the same time.
It is better to have 10 functions in 1 program than in 10 different programs.

this is certainly not true. like this you would end up in bloatware pretty soon.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bloat#Bloatware

nero burning rome is a bloatware prime example.

Better use the Unix philosophy to keep programs small & fast:
"Unix philosophy: "Write programs that do one thing and do it well", break a single, complicated software into numerous simpler components which can be chained together using pipes, shell scripts or another form of interapplication communication."

Every stick has two ends. Sometimes division of software can play a bad joke. We see excellent example - Opera. Developers cut bookmarks from browser and now Opera has lost its popularity.

We must not stupid hack ax, but should previously analyze what components need to remain together. And I think FTP is that one. Each file manager has FTP functions. Just manager no exception. And this FTP client should be realized in good way.

again, this is not true. the browser wars started already a long time ago when microsoft killed netscape by bundling free IE with windows.
today chrome, FF, IE & safari dominate, although opera has some nice features like compression, i think opera already lost the battle, after laying off devs, switching technology and missing innovation in the recent past. in times of browser based OSes, games engines (unity, unreal) running natively without plugins, the browser market seems to be very important. those who cannot keep up the innovation pace, or don't generate enough revenues (FF sells its search engine too Google as you might know) or belong to big international enterprises, will be extincted.

I don't say FTP should not be included in a FM, but development should concentrate on more important still missing fundamental features as mentioned already in another post. as said, there are very good free FTP clients, there is no reason to waste time on such things. see FC, with its half-baked, buggy, useless FTP client...
